According to existing record, Puzhao Nunnery Temple was first named Puzhao Nunnery, the inheritance of Puzhao was:

　　To acknowledge our origin and pass down our inheritance. To learn the profound and rich wisdom of Buddhist universe, and give it to all beings.

　　From sect of Lingji, it’s been eight generations until Master Bhiksuni Yuandeng，destroyed by fire in late Ming dynasty, In 17th of Shunzhi period of Qing dynasty(1660), Ying’s built several simple rooms, made it capable for accommodation。In 7th of Yongzheng period of Qing dynasty, monk Xinlian brought certification from ZhaoJue Temple to Puzhao, found stela made by his predecessor on the left of the temple. So he reconstructed upon the ruins and started again, and became the ninth generation。After Xinlian, the tenth was Chuanzhen, Haiwen was the eleventh. There was no abbot utill the 12th generation, Yinguang, ordination name Kunlun. Thirteenth generation Zhengwen, Zhengxian got the permission from emperor, expanded the Buddhist place. In the fourteenth generation, Guoshi and Guoxiu become abbot consecutively for more than seventy years.After abbot Hongding went on a tour in 30th of Guangxu(1904) there was no abbot in Puzhao。The predecessor maintain Shenyin passed it to his pupil Chengkai. Chengkai passed to Ruchan and then it was Faxi. Then Puzhao was going downhill 。During the land reform from 1949 to 1953, there were only five people including monk Chengguan live in Puzhao。In 1963, the county cultural management committee recruited Bhutani Ruqing and Faxin as guardians from Zhongxing Jiulong Nunnery. The Puzhao Temple opened up to the public until the implementation of the religious policy in 1982, and Bhutani Tongwen, Shenghong came from Bixian, Chongyi to Puzhao. In 1986, the Unified Administration Department of the County Culture and Management Commission issued the Tongwen for the abbot. Shenghong managed the temple as the temple supervisor. In 1988, Puchu Zhao, the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, visited the temple and left calligraphy “Puzhao Nunnery Temple” as a gift. In 1997, recommended by the temple, the municipal Party Committee and the United Front Work Department issued an instruction that the Holy Ancestral Guozheng took over as the second abbot since the reform and opening of Puzhao Nunnery Temple.

　　To discover the origin of Puzhao, we found that the legitimate inheritance was diminished in the early years of our new China. Current abbot learned from Shenghong, a branch sect of Lingji, Yangqi. Because of the courageous innovation, the inheritance was restored.

　　Merciful light of Buddha is shining upon the world, and enlightens people for eternity. Fate is unpredictable, but Buddhist wisdom will lead you to completion.

　　Reconstruction was tough, Puzhao Nunnery Temple had received great support and help from the entire society since “5.12” Wenchuan Great Earthquake. Wish our nation to be prosperous and our people to be strong and powerful, the Buddhist place be flourishing and believers glowing, these are blessings.
